404ops started as a homelab that outgrew itself — real metal, real clusters, real incidents. The tools we wished existed, we built. Now they run production workloads, and we offer the managed services to run yours.
We eat our own dog food.
Every product we ship runs on the same platform we operate for customers: a self-hosted GitLab, two Kubernetes clusters, GitOps deployments, and end-to-end observability. The application factory that builds this very site is the same one that builds our control planes.
That means the software isn't theoretical. When we talk about server lifecycle, reporting, or WordPress tooling, it's because we run those workloads ourselves — and we got tired of the gaps left by vendors who don't.
What we believe
Infrastructure shouldn't be a black box. Deployment should be a merge, not a ceremony. And the best way to own your operations is to understand them — which is why our software is observable, documented, and self-hostable first.

Engineering rigor
Typed code, static analysis, automated tests, and secret scanning on every change. 'It works on my machine' isn't a release strategy.

We choose proven, observable systems over shiny ones. The exciting part should be your product, not your platform.
